Tertiary Extracts: Novel protein and collagen from upcycled sheepskin - Pre-Series A raise

Opportunity For

  • Forward-thinking investors, agrifood corporates, and partners in women’s health innovation.

Opportunity description

Industry Challenge:

By 2030, 1.2 billion women will be post-menopause, creating one of the largest and fastest-growing health demographics globally. Despite this, women’s health remains one of the most underserved and underfunded nutrition categories, even as global spending already exceeds US$500 billion annually and continues to grow at ~6–7% CAGR.

At the same time, global protein demand is undergoing a major shift. The rise of GLP-1 weight-loss medications, ageing populations, and modern lifestyles are driving demand for nutrient-dense, low-volume, high-functionality proteins that can deliver targeted health benefits. Traditional plant and dairy proteins often fall short, lacking digestibility, amino acid balance, or clinical relevance for women.

This convergence is opening a multi-billion-dollar opportunity in women’s health, active ageing, and performance nutrition, already worth over US$100 billion and projected to nearly double by 2035.

Solving this challenge is not just a market opportunity, it has transformative implications. By addressing women’s specific nutritional needs, we can extend healthy lifespans, reduce healthcare costs, and improve quality of life for over half the world’s population, while building the next generation of global nutrition leaders.

Current opportunity:

Tertiary Extracts Ōtautahi (TEO) is raising a Pre-Series A round to accelerate growth in women’s health nutrition. This funding will be directed towards three priorities:

  • Clinical claims development to strengthen defensible IP and support market substantiation.
  • Facility modifications to lift capacity to 400 tonnes annually, meeting near-term demand.
  • Marketing and go-to-market execution, building brand awareness and accelerating sales for both B2B and B2C.

Current state of play:
TEO has been operating commercially for 12 months with validated proprietary processing IP, provisional patents filed, and strong inbound interest. Our flagship ingredient, Ovitage® Collagen, is already gaining traction with local and international nutraceutical and women’s health brands.

Traction to date:
We have early revenue, proof-of-concept sales, and a dual pathway through B2B ingredients and B2C under the Everee Women™ brand.

How collaborators and investors help:
Capital and strategic support will allow us to scale production, substantiate clinical claims, and invest in marketing activity that drives demand globally. This unlocks high-value applications in women’s health, longevity, and active ageing, positioning TEO as the category leader in ovine proteins.

Opportunity Background:

TEO is pioneering a new class of nutrition derived from sheep — upcycling ovine skins into Ovitage® Collagen and Ovitage® proteins.

Our proprietary extraction and processing technology enables the production of 90%+ protein powders with excellent solubility, digestibility, and a complete amino acid profile. These attributes make Ovitage® ideal for bone, joint, skin, muscle, and cognitive health, the areas women most need support as they age.

The key research and technology involve patent-pending processing methods that retain peptide integrity while delivering high yield and consistent functionality. Clinical trials are being designed to generate category-first evidence for Ovitage® Collagen and its role in women’s health outcomes, creating defensible IP and marketing claims.

Features and benefits: Ovitage® is allergen-free, shelf-stable, fully soluble, and highly versatile for formulation across supplements, functional foods, and clinical nutrition.

Point of difference: Unlike bovine or marine collagens, Ovitage® Collagen is globally unique, IP-protected, and upcycled from an abundant supply chain. This delivers not only sustainability and circularity but also a clear market differentiation: a science-backed, premium women’s health protein platform rooted in the sheep industry.

Opportunity – Potential Other Applications:

While TEO’s initial focus is on women’s health, menopause, and active ageing, the platform potential for Ovitage® proteins is far broader.

Related nutrition segments:

  • Sports and performance nutrition: high-protein, fully soluble powders with satiety and recovery benefits.
  • Clinical nutrition: medical-grade Ovitage® protein solutions for sarcopenia, hospital recovery, and immune support.
  • Functional foods & beverages: fortification of mainstream foods with soluble, high-quality Ovitage® proteins.

Other sectors:

  • Specialist applications such as defence and emergency rations, where shelf stability and nutrient density are critical.
  • Cosmeceuticals: Ovitage® Collagen peptides for skin health and anti-ageing formulations.
  • Pet and animal health: leveraging Ovitage® protein bio-actives in premium feeds and supplements.

Each of these segments represents a growing global market. For example, the sports nutrition market alone exceeds US$27 billion and is growing at ~8% CAGR, while clinical nutrition is projected to reach US$64 billion by 2030.

By scaling beyond women’s health, TEO creates a platform business with multiple verticals, leveraging the same core IP and supply chain. This diversification not only increases market opportunity but also builds resilience, positioning TEO as a global leader in Ovitage® proteins.
